2025 Youth Summer Internship

WAVE Youth interns pose at an event

One again, our Summer Youth Internship was energizing and inspiring.

Over the course of eight weeks, our interns dedicated over 200 hours to advancing commonsense gun violence prevention efforts across Wisconsin. Through grassroots outreach, public speaking, and hands-on advocacy, they built meaningful connections with community members at a variety of events and inspired others to take action. Working in partnership with local organizations, they not only gathered signatures for gun violence prevention petitions and shared vital information, but also helped elevate the power of youth voices in Milwaukee to help shape safer, stronger communities.

The interns collaborated with a variety of other organizations dedicated to advancing public safety, including:
City of Oak Creek
City of Milwaukee – Office of Community Wellness and Safety
Enough! Plays
Grassroots Northshore
Safe and Sound
Village of Shorewood

The interns concluded their summer with a capstone project. Together, they created a mini-documentary promoting the importance of commonsense gun laws in our community as well as the importance of youth voices in achieving a more peaceful Wisconsin. Watch the video below!
